Day 2 and 3

Well wow can't believe it's been 3 days! Still totally loving the car! I tried to find the limit for the first time today, you have to do it with a car atleast once lol, lets just say i got a supprise as to how fast she pulls even in 5th and 6th!

I can't help but smile starting the car up in the morning, it's such a refreshing purr from the zorst and it seems to pop off (gurgle) just that bit more when it's cold! I love it lol.

there are a couple of things tho I guess theres always something. Having long legs can lead to a bit of discomfort after a good bit of driving, even when the cruise control is on there is nowhere to rest your right leg or to strech it out so it can lead to a bit of cramp :-( and the petrol! i've nearly done about 70 80 miles so far but i've nearly used half a tank! and thats not good on a 80 litre tank!

On the plus side you can get a fair ammount of kit in the boot it looks tiny but there is a supprising amount of space!

Got my insurance docs thro today and i'm really plesantly supprised how cheap the insurance is, I'm 27 with 6 years no claims and it was £487 with brakedown assistance! which is pretty good!

I joined the Z-owners club yesterday to (www.350z-uk.com) and there seems to be a great bunch of guys there and a massive amount of knowlage which is good! i'm looking forward to my first Z-rally :-)

Day 1.

Well it's the 25 Jan 2010, Day 1 of owning my new (but second hand) Nissan 350z Coupe GT (287) 06 Plate.

I traded in my 08 plate Honda Civic Type R GT which I’ve had from new for a second hand 350z, Some people might think I’m a bit potty but I'm hoping that a lot of car people out there are thinking Nice move! The 350z has been a dream car of mine for some time! Even before it hit the mainstream in such films as 2Fast2Furious and Tokyo drift I always thought there was something special about this car, but just never been able to afford one.

On Saturday my cousin who owns a car business was kind enough to offer me a direct exchange for my Honda after I was eyeing up the 350z in his forecourt. I have to say I had a pretty sleepless night thinking about it, But after driving the coupe for a day I know I made the right move.

The car.

Well the first thing that hit me about the 350z was just its sleek smooth lines, I think it's an incredibly good looking car but what really makes me smile is the sound! Even as stock the car is pretty loud and has a pretty 'raspy' exhaust which can't help but make you grin.

The second thing that hits you is your wallet as it gets up and walks away! Tax for the car isn't that bad it's Group M1 or K so £215 for the TAX man and then the Petrol.. I’ve yet to find out exactly what MPG she'll manage but I know with an 80 litre tank she empties your bank account as you fill her up! Especially as she prefers Premium 98 Octane. On advice from a car mechanic I’ve been told that I can get away with filling her up 1 week on Unleaded and the next week with Super that will keep the ECU and everything else happy. Super Unleaded Burns cleaner and move efficiently so there will be a neglibal rise in horse power and slightly better MPG.

The drive.

Well as you'd expect from a sports car its pretty firm even on standard A roads you can feel any divots or bumps in the road, but the suspension and REALLY comfortable Leather (heated) seats lessen the ass pounding to an extent.
One thing you have to be REALLY careful about is your right foot! as I found out today hitting the A1 looking over your shoulder as you merge with the motorway with your foot down is a great way to hit well over the speed limit without having a clue, the car is so smooth throughout the acceleration band and it really takes you by surprise how fast your going when you look at the pretty small Speedo.
The handling is excellent there is no play in the steering and it is very much a point and shoot car, I’m still a little nervous that I’ll be going around a roundabout touch the throttle and get a hairy over steer but the car seems really tight and the TCS LSD and other TLAs the car has have been keeping the car pointing where I want it to go.. which is reassuring.

LOL Clarkson (the god of motoring) called the 350z a Japanese Muscle car and I very much agrees apart from this muscle car has rails and doesn’t like leaving them.

Well I think thats it for now, I'll be sure to keep blogging and fill you in on my experience as I go.

Owning a 350z Coupe

Well I thought I'd start a Blog to record the day to day or there abouts of owning a Nissan 350z, Maybe this might help others or just give someone a distraction for 5 minutes. I'll try to log any and all encounters I have and try to answer any questions I have to start with so maybe this could help someone else.
